LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- If you're wondering what to do with your live Christmas tree now that the holiday is over recycling is an option.
Louisville will open three tree-cycling centers on Tuesday.
The trees are turned into nutrient-rich mulch which you can take home for free.
The city says for every five trees recycled, about 35 pounds of mulch is created.
Mulch from the trees works particularly well with acid-loving plants like Azaleas.
The three tree-cycling centers are on Hubbards Lane, Outer Loop and Meriwether Avenue.
They are open Tuesday through Thursday. Then again from Jan. 3-6
