Irish Soda Bread


3 ½ Cups All Purpose Flour

1Teaspoon Baking Soda

¾ Teaspoon Salt

1 ½  Cups Butter Milk

¼ Cup Dried Currants ( optional)

2 Tablespoons Caraway Seed ( optional)

Additional flour for rolling


Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl mix together well to evenly distribute. Add in buttermilk mixing with a wooden spoon or a clean washed hand. Gently mix until just combined then turn out on to a clean work surface with flour dusted on the surface. Form into a round loaf then make a cross in the top to allow for steam to escape and to keep all the bad mojo away. Place on a baking sheet that is lied with parchment paper that is sprayed with pan spray. Bake at 425 for about 35 minutes until you can tap on the bottom of the bread and it sounds hollow.
