Louisville TV Gets More Local with Great Day Live!

Louisville, KY – Two of Kentuckiana’s best known media personalities will host a new daily lifestyle and entertainment show on WHAS-TV starting this fall. Premiering August 22, 2011, Great Day Live! will feature WHAS-TV news anchor Rachel Platt and 84 WHAS radio’s Terry Meiners from 9 AM – 10 AM every Monday through Friday. The two have worked together for more than a decade on Good Morning Kentuckiana, WHAS-TV’s morning newscast featuring Meiners’ live remotes every Friday.
 
“Rachel and Terry are talented and versatile people who are also excellent interviewers, so we’re excited to see their talents at work in this new show,” says WHAS-TV general manager Mark Pimentel. “They’ll have the time and opportunity for longer interviews, as well as a closer focus on what’s going on in the community,” Both Rachel Platt and Terry Meiners will continue to be seen on Good Morning Kentuckiana
 
Airing from WHAS-TV’s Studio H – also the home of the WHAS Crusade for Children and U of L sports programming – Great Day Live! will feature segments including topical interviews, local and national entertainment, live music, local chefs and live remotes from around Kentuckiana. The show’s other on-air contributors include Angie Fenton, managing editor of the Voice-Tribune newspaperand a local entertainment correspondent, and  Laura Rogers, formerly a morning and noon TV host from WBKO-TV in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The senior producer of Great Day Live! is Holly Rudolph, a former WHAS-TV news producer, as well as an advertising creative and public relations executive.
 
“With Great Day Live!, we’ll have a local presence in the time slot where LIVE! with Regis and Kelly runs now,” says Kirk Szesny, director of creative services and marketing at WHAS-TV, who has been developing the show’s content and staff. “TV viewers have so many options now, but research has always shown they care most about what’s happening in their home town.”
