The411: Today is the 57th Annual Crusade for Children. Fire departments from Kentucky and Indiana collect money in their area to help children in need. I never knew how important the Crusade is, until it rescued someone special in my life. This week, ten years ago, my sister was rushed to the hospital. She was six months pregnant and the baby was ready to come but doctors kept saying it's not time. The baby's lungs weren't developed. Doctors worked around the clock to help my sister. It was a rough 24 hours. Then a nurse came in and said it's time. No one knew what to expect until the delivery. When my nephew was born he was very small and he had a 50/50 chance of suriviving. They put him in the nursery, and hooked him up to several machines. I remember seeing the Crusade for Children logo that day, I realized the significance of the Crusade and have volunteered for the Crusade ever since then. This week, my nephew celebrated his 10th birthday, he's a straight "A"student and more importantly he's a healthly child. It's a basketball game played just before the big matchup of U of L vs UK. Former stars from both teams, national and local celebrities participate in the game.
