LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Aubrey Lawson was born at 31 weeks and only weighed two pounds and eleven ounces, giving her parents quite the scare.
The WHAS Crusade for Children made it possible for doctors and nurses at Norton Suburban's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to care for Aubrey.
Monitors and equipment used for her treatment was funded with a grant from the crusade.
In Aubrey's case, monitoring her breathing and heart rate has been crucial because she is prone to apnea, which means when she sleeps too deeply causing her breathing to sometimes slow down or stop and that in turn slows her heart rate.
