LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A warm, homemade meal is great any day of the week but it's even more special on Christmas Day.
Big Momma’s Soul Food Kitchen in the 4500 block of West Broadway is giving back to the community by making and serving Christmas dinner for free.
For the past four years, each year they feed more than 1,000 people homemade meatloaf, baked chicken, fried chicken, pork chops, dressing and green beans.
“You know we kind of take things for granted and this doesn't just happen on Christmas day; my mom always do this throughout the year. Anybody can come in here and say they're hungry and she's gonna feed 'em…so it’s just something she's brought the family up on and believes in giving back,” Sheryl Fox, with Big Momma’s Soul Kitchen, said.
Nearly all the money needed to put this meal on comes from big momma herself the owner of the restaurant.
