The411 with Sherlene Shanklin: This Sunday, it's the Miss Louisville Plus America Mock Pageant. Women size 14w and up will compete for the title as The Louisville Plus America Queen and a chance to advance to the next level. The regional pageant sponsored by Body Magic D.I.V.A.s. will take place on Sunday, December 9th at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2735 Crittenden Drive at 7:00 p.m. There’s a $5 donation to attend the event and/or you can donate a canned good for free admission.
Miss Louisville Plus America pageant is the stepping stone to the state Miss Plus America Pageant held March 30, 2013 in Frankfort, KY at the Capital Crowne Plaza which then leads to the national Miss Plus America Pageant. The contestants are representing neighborhoods within our community. Mrs. Regina Cole is Mrs. Victory Park Plus America 2013 and her charity is Women & Family Services Center; Miss Erin Boyd is Miss Chickasaw Park Plus America 2013 and her platform is domestic violence. Mrs. Shellie Aniton-Williams is Mrs. Shively Plus America 2013 whose platform is the Family Self- sufficiency program, and Ms. Latisha Bethel is Ms. Newburg Plus America 2013 with the platform of autism awareness.
Ladies are judged on the following categories: 25% private interview questions, 25% on stage question, 25% elegant pant wear, and 25% evening gown. There will also be a "People’s choice" contest where the audience can purchase votes for $1 with unlimited purchases to vote for their favorite delegate.
This year’s guest judges will be Miss Kentucky Plus America 2012 Lakoya Alexandria Manning, Mrs. Kentucky Plus America 2012 Lisa Marie Kuiper and Kimberly Cecil-Jones, National Ms. Plus America 2012. Audra Wheat, host of the online internet broadcast "The Wheat Report" will serve as the M.C. for the pageant. Delegates and special guests will enjoy vendors, music by Kymp Kamp DJ Bruce Wayne, Live gospel group Robert Jamison & Victory, Wil Craig AT&T "It Can Wait Campaign", Poetry, and a Body Magic demo showing people dropping 2 to 3sizes instantly.
Jackie Bailey-Wayne, Louisville’s Pageant Coordinator says "This pageant celebrates the essence of the full figured woman. We promote love, healthy habits, self-confidence and community service. I'm so excited to be a part of such a positive community event. Come out with your canned goods or other non-perishable items to help a family in need for the holidays"
