The411 with Sherlene Shanklin:  Every Monday, I watch a television series where Queen Latifah is the executive producer.  The show, Single Ladies stars LisaRaye McCoy, Denise Vasi and Charity Shea.  Fans know the trio as Keisha, Racquel and April.  I had the opportunity to talk to LisaRaye. As a fan of the show, I had to ask about her character Keisha Green. McCoy says "Keisha is more vulnerable this year.  She is seeking a career versus playing poker for money.  There's always fashion and always a bad shoe and she has her own perspective on things."
I also wanted to know about her reality show "Real McCoy." It gave you an in-depth look into her life as an actress, mother and an entrepreneur.  McCoy says she's not sure about a third season just yet.  She says her life is lacking drama but she did say they are going along for the journey and see if there's anything good this year.  When I have time in the interview, I always try to ask celebrities to give their fans some solid advice about the business and what young people should do if they are interested in the entertainment industry both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.  McCoy says "Believe in your dream and train yourself.  So many people forget that show business is an actual business.  Stay strong and true to yourself.  Don't get caught up in the negativity.  It should be in your craft, the enjoyment in entertaining people.  You must remember when you enter the business, it's as a character.  Television is entertainment, being an artist is entertainment, your job is to entertain."
LisaRaye has a busy schedule and is juggling may things to stay current in this ever changing industry.  Earlier this year, she held her 3rd Annual B2B Mix Down during Memorial Day Weekend in the Virgin Islands.  McCoy says it's a social networking environment to learn about business and yourself with the people in your area of interest. Several people from Louisville traveled to the St. Thomas to be a part of the weekend.  Kendra Hamilton, President of Kendra Hamilton Enterprises was one of the many entrepreneurs that made the trip.  She decided if she wanted to advance her business she needed to surround herself with people with a  common goal.  Hamilton says it was refreshing to be around others with the same mindset. Hamilton says the weekend was packed with entertainment from Naughty by Nature, Muzic Soul Child, a fashion and comedy show, and an All White Party.
If you are a fan of LisaRaye you know she loves to wear her signature white, so it was fitting for her to host that event.
Hamilton and her friends also got a chance to sit with LisaRaye and watch the season premiere of Single Ladies.  Hamilton says she was very approachable and she won't change a thing about her experience.  She says "I had a great time and I would definitely go back".
You can watch LisaRaye McCoy in Single Ladies, Mondays at 9:00 p.m. on VH1.
