The late Dudley Nichols took a stand when he won Oscar gold for his writing for 1935’s “The Informer.” Nichols refused to accept his Best Screenwriter award as part of a boycott over union rights but accepted his Oscar two years later after the dispute was resolved, according to the Los Angeles Times.
