(WHAS11) - If you haven't heard the name Cody Simpson yet, get used to it, you'll be hearing a lot from this 15-year-old. He's considered the next Justin Bieber and on Wednesday he gave a private concert to some lucky ladies at Sacred Heart Academy
He is not a household name just yet, but to millions of girls he's kind of a big deal. The Australian singer/songwriter made his name on Disney Channel's show "Next Big Thing," now he's released his first album. Simpson says he's taking it all in stride but enjoying every minute.
"I'm still only 15-years-old. I can't even drive a car yet. To have so much happen before I can even do anything it's such a unique feeling to be on stage, " said Simpson.
The girls at Sacred Heart were lucky enough to get this close to him for a 30-minute acoustic concert in their gym. They worked hard to get this honor. They won a contest sponsored by the radio station 98.9 and sent the most text messages to the station. The students sent 115,000 text messages to win!
"I heard there was like over 300,000 texts for schools around the area. To know that one girl sent 5,000 for me to come to her school, it's very surreal," said Simpson.
20 students were selected to meet Cody Simpson after the concert. It was certainly a day the girls and the school will not soon forget.
