TLC today announced that it will premiere the documentary film OFF THE REZ on Saturday, May 14 at 9:00 p.m. The film, from director Jonathan Hock and executive producers Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, made its world debut on April 26, at the Tribeca Film Festival.

OFF THE REZ followed current Louisville guard Shoni Schimmel, a Umatilla Indian and one of the best high school basketball players in the country, and her family for two years as she pursued her dream of being the first from her tribe to get a college basketball scholarship. She and her mother Ceci, also her high school coach, battle together to redeem generations of struggle for their family and their people, but her hoop dreams are threatened after her family leaves the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

"It's been an honor working with Shoni and her family to tell this story,” said Mark Consuelos, who also narrates the film. “Their journey in OFF THE REZ exemplifies the American dream, showing how the human spirit can overcome any challenge through hard work and persistence. Shoni's talent is remarkable, and her family's bond makes OFF THE REZ a fantastic fit for TLC."

Schimmel finished her freshman season averaging 15.1 points and a team-high 4.9 assists per game. She was named a first team Freshman All-American by Full Court Press. She was also a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman team and earned BIG EAST Honorable Mention honors while leading the league in three-point field goals made with 2.8 per game.

OFF THE REZ is a Hock Films Production, presented by TLC in association with Milojo Productions. The film is Written and Directed by Jonathan Hock; Executive Producers are Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos and Albert Bianchini.
