LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday celebration in Louisville is expected to happen Saturday night. Even though the boxing great will turn 70-years-old on January 17, a private birthday bash is going to take place Saturday at the Ali Center in downtown Louisville. The party will double as a fundraiser for the center.
Among those invited to the party are song writers David Foster and John Mellencamp, NBC TV journalists Matt Lauer, Ann Curry, and Bryant Gumbel, and ESPN commentator Michael Wilbon.
The three American hikers who were imprisoned in Iran are also expected to attend. Ali helped to free Josh Fattal, Shane Bauer, and Sarah Shourd.
