(WHAS11) -- Everyone wants to know the secret to looking younger. For years the botox party was the hot trend, now there's a new holistic approach that has women packing their living rooms, eager to learn more about what needles, tea and spices have to do with removing fine lines and wrinkles.

"Really it does not hurt at all. . It's easy," said patient Fran Gallalee Peters

Fran Gallalee Peters, 41, definitely is not squeamish when it comes to needles. But she is concerned about fine lines and wrinkles. Acupuncturist Karen Alladin Gittli gently placed roughly 10-15 needles around Fran's face.

Fran Peters says she has tried botox but wanted a more natural approach.

"I did like it but what I did not like was that frozen face look. I couldn't raise my eyebrows..." said Peters.

Gittli says this treatment is based in traditional Chinese medicine. The women first get an all natural face mask, then needles are placed in certain spots.

"I will put it at the end of a wrinkle. It's basically bringing blood and circulation back to that area to revitalize those muscles, firm and tone," said Gittli.

Practitioner Robert Gittli talks to the participants about the what we can put in our bodies to also help the skin look and feel younger. He prepares a five element Chinese meal high in antioxidants.
For Peters and others, when it comes to turning back the hands of time, a natural approach could be the trick.

"We stress ourselves out too much and i think this is kind of a fun way to look at that and examine that. This is fun," said Gittli.

If you host a party in your home its $50 per person. For a private session at MerIdian it's 150 per session. For more information contact Meridian at 502-290-8788 or www.meridianlouisville.com.
