The only African American to be named Sexiest Man Alive, actor Denzel Washington was best known at the time for films including "The Pelican Brief " and "The Philadelphia Story." Today, he has broadened his Hollywood experience to include work as a screenwriter, director and producer but still shines as an actor, winning an Academy Award for the cop thriller film "Training Day" in 2001.
