Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- There is new information on the reopening for Kentucky Kingdom.
Four members of the Koch family, the owners of Holiday World in southern Indiana, have now formed a new company.
It is called Bluegrass Boardwalk Incorporated.
Their goal is to negotiate a lease agreement with the Kentucky State Fair Board and take over Kentucky Kingdom.
It is a prospect that has people in the area excited.
“I know there's a lot still to be done, but as soon as I heard about it… it brought a smile to my face,” says Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson.
Kentucky Kingdom could open as soon as next year.
The Koch family says they will not ask the state for any cash up front, but will apply for tax incentives.
