LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—One of the faces of ESPN’s College Football helped kick off this year’s Kentucky Derby Festival.

College Gameday’s Kirk Herbstreit was the special guest at the Galt House on Friday for the annual “They’re Off” luncheon.

He said he’s always happy to be in Louisville this time of year.

"It’s an honor, I’ve been coming to Oaks and Derby for over a decade,” Herbstreit said. “It’s a highlight I didn't even know, [it] was a great honor."

While at the luncheon, he also talked about Louisville football, where he said he believes Coach Bobby Petrino has learned some valuable lessons, that he inherited a team with a lot of talent and the Cards’ move to the ACC will open a lot of doors.
