(ABC News) -- Oops, she did it again. If there was ever any doubt, Britney Spears is back.
Ending weeks of speculation, the pop superstar this morning announced that she has inked a two-year deal to perform her own show at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

Spears, 31, made the announcement today on "Good Morning America" after a live helicopter stunt in Las Vegas during which Spears was surprised by more than 1,000 of her fans who had gathered in the desert. The fans held signs showing a picture of Spears as she circled in a helicopter high above.
"This is such a sweet thing to do," Spears said. "I don't even know what to say. I'm speechless. This is shocking."
The "Womanizer" singer, who's working on her eighth studio album, says the Las Vegas show, "Britney, Piece of Me," will be an action-packed performance hybrid of her old and new hits where club meets theater.
"We wanted the environment to be that way so people could come and have a good time and stand up and feel like they're in the show with me," Spears told "GMA." "I love Vegas. The energy here is really, really good."
The mother of sons Sean, 7, and Jayden, 6, says she has been training as much as five hours per day for the show, which will premiere Dec. 27. Fans who flock to Vegas might even get a glimpse of Spears' two sons with ex-Kevin Federline in her new show.
"Preston will probably be on stage but I think Jayden would have a hard time with it," she said of her sons, who appeared earlier this year in their mom's "Ooh La La" music video for the "Smurfs 2" soundtrack.
Spears will perform 50 shows at Planet Hollywood over the two-year period, but has not yet decided if she will make the move full-time to Las Vegas.
"We'll see," she said.
Spears' Las Vegas deal is the latest comeback for the music star who burst onto the pop scene at age 16 with the hit "… Baby One More Time," got married twice, divorced twice, suffered a psychological breakdown in 2008 and was hospitalized in Los Angeles and then came back with a gig judging "The X-Factor."
She's now focusing on her music - her new single, "Work B*tch," was reportedly leaked this weekend - and collaborating with stars like will.i.am and Miley Cyrus, another child star who has made her share of headlines in recent weeks.
"I think any time you do a performance that is memorable, you're going to have criticism," Spears said of Cyrus' risqué duet with Robin Thicke at the VMA. "I think she's doing her thing, being herself. So I give props to her."
Spears' latest album, still untitled, will be released Dec. 3, she revealed today on "GMA." The disc will feature personal ballads, many of which she wrote while going through a break-up with her manager-turned-fiance Jason Trawick. The pair ended their relationship in January after more than four years together.
"I wrote a lot about [that]," Spears said. "I think everybody can relate to that. I think to them, they want to know that a superstar goes through the same process of a breakup as they do."
