LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- This year's PNC Broadway in Louisville series is one of the best yet. Not only are they bringing back big hits like The Lion King, but four of the five shows are still running on Broadway.  Andy Treinen and Kelsey Starks got to visit New York to see the shows to tell you all about them.

This week, you get a behind-the-scenes scoop on all the shows–like the revival of Pippin. We talk to the show’s director and circus coordinator (yes, CIRCUS!) about what you’ll see on stage this time–what’s different from the 1972 Bob Fosse original and the magic that keeps it the same.

And Once, the Tony-award-winner that has a Louisville native on stage is unlike anything else playing on Broadway right now. We’re talking about a bar on stage, a love story and what it all has to do with Adam Levine’s new movie.

But this season opens with a throwback–taking you back in time to 1952 where you become an audience member for the filming of I love Lucy. You get to see two of the most popular and memorable episodes as they are being filmed on stage, with backstage antics and all.

It’s backstage–on stage. And that’s exactly what you’ll see this week for our own Broadway series – the backstage interviews with the stars and the directors of the shows you can see in Louisville this season.  We’ll tell you things like why the director of Newsies thinks Broadway is a lot like sports and what brought The Lion King back to Louisville after all these years.

It’s all this week only on WHAS11.  For more information, click here.
