BEVERLY HILLS, California (AP) -- Everybody knows that Mariah Carey is a great singer. But she says what makes her most recent honor so special -- is that it comes for her songwriting -- not her singing. She was the guest of honor at the BMI Urban Music Awards -- where she received the Icon Award for her songwriting skills. Over her career, she has racked up 18 number-one singles and more than 200 million albums sold. Carey says she's "so humbled" by the award -- because, "a lot of people still don't know I write my own songs." Among the singers who paid tribute to Carey by performing her songs were Fantasia and Eric Benet (beh-NAY'). Benet performed "One Sweet Day" and Fantasia did "Hero" during the private ceremony at a theater in Beverly Hills, California this past Friday.
