MATCHBOX 20 POWER NEW ALBUM WITH RED WINE

NEW YORK (AP) -- Matchbox 20's new album, "North," was fueled by red wine. Singer Rob Thomas says they spent $40,000 on wine while making the album outside Nashville. Guitarist Paul Doucette (doo-SEHT') says their downfall was that they were drinking Francis Ford Coppola Pinot Noir and tweeted a photo of it -- and the winery sent them cases of it. Thomas says they'd meet bands in Nashville and bring them back to the studio to hear new music that they had made while drunk. He says he's sure those bands must think the new Matchbox 20 album would stink. Judge for yourself: "North" comes out today.
