CHICAGO (AP) -- Dawes bassist Wylie Gelber can't make eye contact with members of the audience when he's on stage. Gelber says if he locks in a stare with someone during a show, there's "a weird wig-out going on." Keyboardist Tay Strathairn (strah-THAN') has more concentration than that. He says the band puts themselves under a microscope more than the audience does, so they might as well have fun. Dawes have been testing songs live that they will put on a new album that they'll record this fall. If all goes well, it should be out early next year.
