TV LAND AIRING NINE HOURS OF "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW"

NEW YORK (AP) -- TV Land is airing an "Andy Griffith Show" marathon in his memory. The network will air episodes of the show from 11 in the morning to eight at night all this weekend. Reruns of The Andy Griffith Show have been airing on TV Land since 2003. The network even commissioned a statue of Sheriff Taylor and Opie in Mount Airy, North Carolina, where Griffith was born. Mayberry was modeled after the town. Andy Griffith died from a heart attack. His death certificate says it happened 24 hours before he died. It also reveals that Griffith had suffered for years from coronary artery disease, hypertension and other illnesses. He is buried in the Griffith Family Cemetery in Manteo, North Carolina. He was 86.
