MANCHESTER, Tennessee (AP) -- It was really more of a jam session than a concert. And the performer worked through his 90-minute set list using lyric sheets. But because the singer was D'Angelo, it's considered a big deal. The performer did his first live U.S. appearance in 12 years. It happened early yesterday at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee. D'Angelo took the stage during Questlove's Superjam session. As Questlove introduced him, the crowd roared with approval. D'Angelo is to perform next month at the Essence Music Festival before going on tour in Europe. Questlove says he invited D'Angelo to perform with him at Bonnaroo because he wanted the singer see how much he's missed -- and to spur him to complete his album project.
