LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- There's new life for a Germantown church left vacant for nearly two decades.

Sojourn Community Church held services in the 126-year-old St. Vincent de Paul building Sunday morning.  It marked the first time services were held there in 16 years.

"We really celebrate what we do as a church gathering, but we also celebrate the opportunity to really weave ourselves into this neighborhood, and people in this neighborhood know what we're about," said Lead Pastor Daniel Montgomery.  "We're about this community and being present for the long haul."

Sojourn says it spent the last two years restoring the church before opening it to services.
