Here we go again!  From 63 yesterday to 30s with snow likely late this afternoon and evening.

And if you didn't already hear...Punxsutaney Phil saw his shadaw!  That means 6 more weeks of winter.  The good news, he is only right about 39% of the time!

Okay, let's break down this winter storm for you.  The radar/satellite below shows rain showers across the area associated with a cold front.  The steady rain showers will be moving out later this morning through midday before the snow starts to push into the area.

Where is the snow now?  Well, its off in Texas associated with an upper level disturbace.  This will track northeast throughout the day with our chances for snow increasing by late in the day.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 4PM this afternoon until 7AM Monday for counties along the Ohio River south to the Parkways (including the metro).  This is where the highest snowfall accumulations are expected.  The rest of the area is under a Winter Weather Advisory for around that same time frame.

So, let's time this out for you.  By 4PM this afternoon, snow will begin along the Ohio River.  Rain showers expected south.

This evening, the snow will become moderate to heavy at times for points north and south of the Ohio River.  Rain showers continue south.

The snow continues overnight.  Watch out for hazardous driving conditions tonight through early tomorrow morning.  The roads will be very slick.

Look for lingering snow showers/flurries tomorrow morning before becoming mostly sunny by the afternoon.

Here is the latest snowfall projections with this system.  The area under a Winter Storm Warning can expect anywhere from 2 up to 5 inches of snow.  The counties under a Winter Weather Advisory can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow.

After this system moves out, several more disturbances are expected to move into the area over the next week.  The next one on tap will arrive Tuesday.  This one has the chance to bring freezing rain Tuesday morning before changing to rain showers for the rest fo the day.  Stay tuned!
