September was a wild ride. The very first day of September we hit 100 degrees for the first time in 2011. The following two days we hit 101 & 102 making it three consecutive days with 100 degree temperatures.
The temperatures then took a nose dive on Labor Day. A cut-off low, that was unusual for this time of the year, parked itself right over Kentuckiana. Clouds, rain and cool temperatures hung around for 5 days straight. Temperatures were stuck in the low to mid 60s, averaging about 10 to 15 degrees below average. We even set record cool high temperatures for 3 days in a row!
After a bumpy start to the month, the weather took a more normal track. On average the month of September was about 2.5 degrees cooler than average. It was also a soggy month with a total of 5.73 inches of rain. That’s 2.68 inches above normal! Most of the rain for the month fell on the 25th and 26th with 3.36 inches falling within 24 hours!
