It’s hard to believe we are talking about the chances for snow this weekend with sunshine and mild temperatures out there this afternoon. But, we are tracking those changes for the weekend. A low pressure system will move up from the south Saturday night into Sunday morning. Two things will determine who will see the snow and how much we will get. The track of the low will be crucial along with how quickly the cold air spills in. Also, with the ground temperatures above freezing, it will be difficult to see any accumulation at first.
As it looks right now, any accumulation will be along and south of the Ohio River. Here is a look at what two of the models are pumping out. The NAM is being more aggressive with snowfall, up to 7 or 8” in Washington, Marion and Taylor counties…other areas getting a dusting up to 6”.
The GFS isn’t as aggressive with snowfall amounts and right now seems to be the more likely scenario. GFS has a dusting up to 1” south of the river to Etown and 2-4” possible off to the southeast.
