It has been a very hot summer so far, but how does it compare to our record setting summer of last year (Warmest June on record; 3rd warmest July and August)... Check out the table below.
June/July... 2011 vs 2010
| Temperature | 2011 (so far...) | 2010 |
| 90s | 26 Days | 42 Days |
| 80s | 25 Days | 19 Days |
| 70s | 4 Days | 0 |
| Departure from Average | +3.750 F | +5.70 F |
As you can see last summer was almost two degrees warmer, however, this year's humidity has made it much more unbearable with the heat index often above 100 degrees!
Tuesday's 94 made 10 days in a row with temperatures at or above 90 degrees and I have 90s in the forecast for the next seven days. That would bring the stretch of 90s to 17 days! The record for the most consecutive days at or above 90 is 22 days set in August of 2007. So the big question is can we tie or break that record. Some of my long range models are suggesting we can... With that said one well placed thunderstorm could put an end to the streak. Stay tuned...
