LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Rain started around 5 a.m. for Kentuckiana and has continued for several hours causing issues on roadways and for the start of Friday's session at Valhalla.
These showers have been very slow moving. Moving northeast at only 10-15 MPH. This has caused upwards of two inches of rain fall in just a short amount of time. Ponding on roadways and the major interstates through Jefferson County came at a bad time as the morning commute was getting started. Several accidents have been reported through the morning. The good news is the rain is clearing up for the heaviest portions of the morning commute.
More rain and downpours are possible again later on Friday afternoon and evening. Again issues could pop up with ponding on the roadways and possible delays at Valhalla. Rain chances are going to fade out for tonight and through much of the weekend outside of a few lighter pop-up showers.
