Tropical Storm Beryl is about to make landfall tonight along portions of the east coast. Tropical storm warnings are out for parts of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Right now Beryl has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph, which are just below hurricane force winds (74 mph or greater). Right now, little change is expected in the strength prior to landfall, but any additional increase in strength would make Beryl a category one hurricane.

The map below shows Beryl is expected to move slowly west-northwestward and then turn northward over portions of northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia on Monday and Monday night. By this time, Beryl should weaken to a tropical depression.
