I counted four to five downpours over New Albany.  See for yourself in this timelapse video from our PNC Plaza camera, from about 6pm to a little after 8pm Tuesday night.  Doppler radar estimated about 2" of rain in some areas of town.

These bubbly showers are usually very brief and not severe lasting only 15 - 30 minutes.  But, these summertime "poppers" picked New Albany to party!  This time of year the small (2-5 miles wide) storms build in the heat and humidity of the late afternoon and evening, then tend to collapse after a short time.  They don't usually become severe because the winds are so very light in the stagnant summer air.  The are updraft dominant for about 10 minutes, then become downdraft dominant the last half, then fade away.
