Thursday's Storm Highlights:
- Heavy morning rain
- Light wintry mix to snow late Thursday and Thursday night
- Blustery winds, in excess of 40 mph.
- Bitter wind chills Thursday night into Friday
- Dusting of snow at best, mainly on the grass
Rain will arrive ovenright and continue through Thursday afternoon. The heaviest rain is likely from 5am to 10am with some thunderstorms possible (severe not expected). Notice the rainfall total map below showing many areas picking up .25 - .75" of rainfall - most of that coming in the morning.
Rain turns much lighter Thursday afternoon, but the winds turn much stronger (gusts 40+ mph).
The light rain showers will likely switch to a mix, then just plain light snow or flurries late Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. With ground and air temperatures above freezing most of Thursday, the snow should melt on contact and the roads should be in pretty good shape. However, if we get a few heavier bursts of snow, and if any moisture is left on the roads, we'll have to watch for a few icy spots overnight Thursday into early Friday morning.
Notice the snowfall total map below, it looks like most of our area could see a dusting on the grass at best, with perhaps a couple of inches of snow north in Central and Northern Indiana.
The winds will dry out the roads fairly quickly though as they will stay gusty through Friday morning. With that said, we could see wind chills down to the lower teens early Friday. A cold start for the 1st day of winter Friday!
