The cool front on the way tomorrow in many ways will be a great thing - bringing rain, temperature, and humidity relief. However, the front will be slamming into a very hot and unstable air mass over Kentuckiana. Storms will begin firing up Thursday afternoon, but a more organized threat of severe storms could arrive during the evening as the front arrives. The main severe weather threats will be damaging wind gusts and large hail, and as we've seen lately, all storms will contain heavy rain and frequent lightning. Below is the Storm Prediction Center's Slight Risk Outlook for our area. Below that is a look at our Futurecast showing a potentially strong-severe line of storm late tomorrow.
As I mentioned, we could be getting some good rainfall amounts from the front. Perhaps, over 1" in many areas by Friday morning. Map below from the HPC.
