A storm system is developing to our west and the wetter pattern begins tonight as a warm front moves through Kentuckiana. The warm front will keep scattered showers around through early Wednesday. Mainly dry Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday.
The cold front then approaches with scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening. The storm has a high level of wind energy, so even outside of thunderstorms, wind gusts could be in excess of 30 mph. So, you're going to need a waterproof and windproof costume!
The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a Slight Risk of Severe Storms for Halloween. While a severe weather outbreak is not expected, we'll have to watch out for a few strong to severe storms, and also the potential for an isolated weak spin-up tornado. The highest chance of heavy rain and storms looks to be from 4pm - 11pm Thursday. Keep a close eye on the radar and on WHAS11 News before you head out trick-or-treating. Keep in mind, there are also indoor trick-or-treating options at many area shopping centers and malls.
