Have the rain gear handy for the start of the workweek! A low pressure system will develop over the central Plains on Monday. Ahead of this system, winds blowing from the south will bring in a lot of moisture to the area along with mild temperatures. Scattered showers should begin to move in by the afternoon. A cold front will inch closer to the area Monday night bringing with it heavy rain and the chance for a few thunderstorms through Tuesday morning. This will lead to rainfall totals ranging from a half inch up to one and a half inches by Tuesday evening. The heaviest rain will fall along and north of the Ohio River. The map shows the forecasted rainfall totals from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center. Once the cold front passes, temperatures will drop and we will see rain mixing with snow Tuesday evening. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.
