Two Chances for Severe Storms
It looks like we will be dodging storms over the Crusade weekend as we have the opportunity for strong to severe thunderstorms Friday through Sunday morning.
The complex of storms over IL & MO will move east overnight and weaken before they arrive tomorrow morning. However we do have plenty of low level moisture available and we will see the winds right above the ground (Low Level Jet - LLJ) increase. This should keep the showers and storms going through tomorrow afternoon
SPC does have us in a Slight Risk for Friday, mainly north and west of Metro Louisville. Main Threats: Wind, Rain, Hail and Lightning.
It looks like we will have some scattered showers and storms around throughout the day, but our best chance for severe storms are overnight with a slow moving cold front. We will need to watch this storm system closely.
The storms look strongest out west around 11pm-midnight.
They appear to weaken a bit as they move into the Metro between 3-5 am Sunday. However, our LLJ will be around 45-55kts, which could keep them going strong.
The storms are still going strong as they move into our SE counties around 11am Sunday.
SPC does have us in a Slight Risk for Severe Storms Saturday-Sunday Morning. But, again it looks like our best chance for severe storms will be Saturday night through Sunday Morning.
Main Threats: Wind, Hail, Heavy Rain, Lightning and a very slight chance for an Isolated Tornado.
The WHAS11 Storm Team will be watching the storms closely for you this Crusade Weekend.
