AFTERNOON SNOW UPDATE: Light amounts, but troublemakers!

My first map here should offer you some good news.  Temperatures will go just above freezing this afternoon with lighter precipitation, which means imporoving roads conditions for the ride home from work and school.

Map 2 below shows that our snow amounts today are not going to be significant, less than 1" in most areas.  In fact, many spots will just pick up a dusting.

Now for the bad news, another round of snow is expected early Friday morning.  At the same time, temperatures will be falling back below freezing.  With temperatures only in the 20s all day Friday (wind chills in the teens), all snow will stick.  Expect slick and hazardous road conditions Friday morning, and possibly into Friday afternoon.  Now, this snow could arrive in bands - which means some areas may see very little if any snow, while other spots could have up to an additional inch early Friday.

School delays or cancellations possible Friday.

The last 3 maps are 3 different weather models shows the total snowfall accumulation forecast through late Saturday.  This adds up the total snowfall amounts involving several different clipper systems.   Again, it's not a significant amount, but each batch could cause travel trouble.  Careful out there!
