Severe Storms Out West

A strong cold stretches from MO to east TX with severe storms out ahead of the from Northern IL to LA.  These storms produced tornadoes in Missouri and Arkansas this afternoon and evening.  There is also a Tornado Watch in effect until 4am for SW Indiana and Western Kentucky until 3am CDT.

The Good New

I believe these storms will weaken as they approach our western counties early Thursday morning.  We could still see a few strong storms that may produce gusts 40-50mph and some locally heavy rain.  So the morning commute will be slow.

Timing

Western counties between 3-4am

Metro Between 6-8am

Storms redeveloping and intensifying along and east of I-65 after Noon

Strong to severe storms far southeast around 4pm

Storms explode in Eastern KY around 6pm with leftover showers in Kentuckiana

Leftover showers are out of here by early Friday morning.

Bad News...

As the storms redevelop by early afternoon east of I-65 we will see strong to severe storms.  Right now I believe the best chance will be to our far east and south eastern counties.

SPC has areas east of I-65 in a 30% risk for severe storms on Thursday.
