Another Winter Storm...

Winter Storm Warning Tuesday Afternoon- Wed 1pm...  Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings Counties, IN

Winter Storm Watch Tuesday PM-Wed AM for S. Indiana and Breckinridge, Meade and Trimble Counties, KY
(Metro is not in the watch, but would not be surprised to see them added later.)

I'll be very honest...  This is an extremely difficult forecast!  A shift of 50 miles north or south would result in heavy rain or heavy snow/ice for the Metro.  With the current forecasted track we sit right on the line with the chance for some light ice accumulation.

Our Indiana counties have the best chance of ice accumulation to 1/4 inch and some light snow accumulation too.

Futurecast (Timing)

Look for the precip to start after 4pm tomorrow.  Mainly rain (maybe some sleet) along and south of the Ohio River.  Indiana will likely see snow and freezing rain.

By 7pm we could see freezing rain along and just south of the Ohio River (including Metro).  Snow and freezing rain for most of Indiana.  While most of Kentucky looking at mainly rain.

Around 11pm it appears that the freezing rain will push into all of our Indiana counties as we see a little surge of warmer air aloft.  South of the Metro it still appears to be mostly rain.

Early Wednesday morning as the Low lefts north east of the area we could see this end as a little snow or freezing drizzle.  But notice temps over southern Kentucky are still above freezing so they will most likely stay as rain.

Everything should be coming to an end before sunrise Wednesday.

Main threats

Ice accumulation up to 1/4" and light snow accumulation (see map for details).

Icy roads and possible power outages could be an issue in Indiana.

Final Thoughts...

The final track of this storm is not set in stone.  A small shift north or south would have a HUGE impact on our weather in Kentuckiana!  Stay tuned, we will be updating the forecast tonight and tomorrow morning.
