(WHAS11) For the first time in school history the Louisville Men's Tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Louisville defeated No. 23 Virginia Tech 4-1 Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Cards advance to 23-5 overall and set a new school record for the most victories in a season.
The Cardinals are back in action on Friday in Athens, Georgia. Louisville will play No. 2 Tennessee at 3:00 p.m..
The Kentucky Wildcats have also advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Kentucky beat No. 24 Georgia Tech 4-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The victory sends the Wildcats to their first Sweet Sixteen since 2002.
Kentucky will face No. 5 USC on Friday at 9:00 a.m. in Athens, GA.
