The411 with Sherlene Shanklin: In celebration of Black History Month, Brown-Forman holds a program each year during February to recognize their employees and the invaluable contributions they give to the community. They also bring in a notable figure to talk about their accomplishments to motivate their staff. This year they will have NFL Hall of Famer, Dallas Cowboy three-time Super Bowl winner and ABC's 2006 Dancing with the Stars Champion as their special guest. If you have not figured it out yet, I'm referring to Emmitt Smith. He will share with the staff, life after football and his experience of transitioning for the football field to the corporate boardroom as a successful businessman and author.
Smith will be at the Brown-Forman Corporation on Wednesday, February 15th at 9:00 a.m. The CEO of Emmitt Smith Enterprises, Inc. which is comprised of Smith's brand through marketing and management, real estate, construction and a non-profit charity. His mission statement for his business ventures "Building Bridges to Open Doors". Emmitt Smith is also Brown-Forman’s Casa Herradura brand ambassador and the first celebrity athlete to buy Herradura's exclusive Double Barrel Reposado.
Smith continues to share his personal and professional stories with organizations across the country. He has been a member of the President's Health and Fitness Council, and has been recognized by numerous organizations for his leadership and public service. He also authored the 2011 book, Game On: Find Your Purpose — Pursue Your Dreams, which chronicles his story from humble beginnings growing up in Pensacola, Fla. to his rise in the business world.
