I just received word from one of my sources in Boston that Louisville native Rajon Rondo plans to give back to his hometown in a huge way. He is putting his basketball skills to the test.
For each steal he gets in the NBA All-star game this weekend he will donate $5,000 to support parks and recreation departments here in Louisville. Rondo is also doing this for Boston's Parks and Recreation Department. They will give them $500 for each steal.
Rondo says “It’s great that my play on the court is directly tied to helping Boston parks, and now also supporting my hometown of Louisville,". “Hopefully, I’ll be able to make a difference on the court this weekend in Los Angeles, and for the great city I am from.”
We understand that the record for steals in the All-Star game is eight. Rondo Louisville hopes you break the record.
We will keep you posted on Rondo's final total. I will also try and find out which groups will specifically benefit from his efforts.
