Just eight weeks left until the New York Marathon on November 6th!
There are many running Apps, I've been using the free RunKeeper . The program seems to do a nice job keeping track of my miles, times, calories, elevation, routes, and more. RunKeeper says I did over 25 miles the last seven days. I want to get that up to about 30 miles on non-long-run weeks.
The long run is coming up this Saturday, and once again Reed has upped the ante! I put down a 14.3 mile run two Saturdays ago, but last Sunday Reed went 15.1! So, I'm going to have to try and tie or beat that of course!
Staying hydrated is essential and Reed got all sophisticated during his long jog. He told me he had someone driving ahead of him with water. Reed is a smart man. If you can do it, a spotter/helper is a very safe way to go. I have found that deep in a long run, your mind can wander, your body isn't feeling all that great, and having someone around could really help if something bad were to happen.
The toughest run I had this week was my 5-miler pushing both of my kids and all of their paraphernalia up and down hills. Not a long run, but I suppose good for the lungs and muscles.
Stay tuned... coming soon Reed and I will tell you what's in our IPods (big, crazy list)! Future entries will include pictures, video, and much more! Thanks for stopping by and keeping up-to-date on our "Road to the Marathon".
We'd love to hear from you! Are you running the New York Marathon? Have you before? Do you have any questions?
