As the Kentucky Secretary of State's office navigated the filing deadline for statewide candidates, Secretary of State designate Elaine Walker (D) ended weeks of anxiety for the department's political appointees by dismissing at least one of them. Walker, however, told WHAS11 News that she has decided to keep several other non-merit employees.
Prior to Walker's visit, one employee expressed concern that she had not communicated her staffing intentions in the 18 days since Governor Steve Beshear named her as Trey Grayson's successor.
Walker, who faces Democratic primary opposition from Alison Lundergan Grimes, also met with Election administrator Mary Sue Helm while at the Secretary of State's office on Tuesday.
