With Bill Clinton recuperating from a heart procedure, I called former Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Lundergan for his thoughts and an update.
He confirms that the former President had a heart procedure on Thursday that included two stents, that Mr. Clinton is "resting well," and all are "hoping for a good recovery."
Lundergan says he has been in contact today with Clinton's assistant, Douglas Band, and last saw Clinton about three weeks ago at the funeral for the mother of Vice-President Joe Biden, and that Lundergan and Clinton enjoyed some private time, afterword.
"He's working very hard on the Haiti relief project and planning Chelsea's wedding, that he's very excited about," Lundergan said.
Lundergan has known Clinton since the mid 1980's, when Clinton was governor of Arkansas.
"This is a gentleman who has dedicated his entire life to helping other people," Lundergan added, "we should keep him in our thoughts and prayers."
Lundergan is in Florida where he is involved in Haiti relief efforts.
