FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP)The man who helped Texas Congressman Ron Paul raise millions on the Internet for an unsuccessful presidential bid is going to help Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett generate cash for his GOP campaign.
Trevor Lyman said Friday he is setting up an online fundraiser for early April on behalf of Moffett, a Louisville businessman and tea party Republican who espouses some of the same small-government philosophies as Paul.
Moffett has raised less than $100,000 for his Republican primary race, far short of the $1 million he believes he needs to run an effective campaign. He will face state Senate President David Williams and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw in the May 17 primary.
Williams, the leading GOP fundraiser, had banked more than $750,000 by the end of last year.
