(WHAS11) – For this controversy, we have to travel back in time to 1964 when the civil rights act first prohibited private businesses, like lunch counters and diners, from denying service to people based on their race.
When The Courier Journal asked Rand Paul about it, he said while he would protest racial discrimination, it's not the government's job to prohibit a private business from practicing it. WHAS11’s Joe Arnold has more with the story.
