(WHAS Political Blog) Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Rand Paul tells me that his father, iconic Texas Congressman Ron Paul, will appear with Rand Paul in Louisville at a rally on January 30.
Rand Paul describes his Dad, the libertarian minded former Presidential candidate, as "one of America's greatest statesmen in 200 years." The Kentucky Paul has borrowed a few pages from his father's political playbook, in particular the Internet "moneybomb," in which supporters are encouraged to flood the campaign coffers with cash in one day. Rand Paul's next moneybomb is scheduled for Wednesday, December 16. Campaign manager David Adams says Rand Paul has already raised $300,000 in the 4th quarter so far, so the campaign is hoping for $700,000 on Wednesday to get to $1 million for the quarter.
Meanwhile, Adams also tells me that Rand Paul will officially file for the U.S. Senate race on December 30 at the Kentucky Secretary of State's office in Frankfort (the office of challenger Trey Grayson), followed by a news conference at the Republican Party of Kentucky.
