JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Indiana Governor Mike Pence was in Jeffersonville Thursday afternoon, March 6, to honor first responders for their help during the winter storms.
WHAS11 had an opportunity to talk to him about the East End Bridge Project.
He says the construction is monitored on a daily basis and it continues to be under-budget and on schedule.
Governor Pence is asking lawmakers in Indianapolis for more money for roads and bridge construction.
"I'm seeking $400 million in additional for roads, I think one of the things the East End Bridge will demonstrate is my belief that roads mean jobs and bridges mean jobs too."
The cost of the East End Bridge Project is $1.3 billion.
It will connect Utica, Ind. and Prospect, Kentucky.
