The Republican U.S. Senate candidates squared off in a Bowling Green debate Tuesday night. That's the home turf of Bowling Green eye doctor Rand Paul, who maintained a 15 point lead in a second consecutive WHAS11/Courier-Journal Bluegrass poll released on Monday.
Associated Press reporter Roger Alford has the recap from Bowling Green.
The wide-ranging debate turned testy when Paul and Grayson sparred over a political ad that showed images of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Paul aired the ad in response to a Grayson commercial that suggested Paul wants to release terrorists back to their home countries.
"That's untrue," Paul said. "It's dishonest. It's shameful. And you ought to quit it, Trey. You should be better than that."
Grayson said he simply used sound bites of Paul speeches in the ad.
"I stand by what we've said," Grayson told the crowd.
